Instances and unexpected encounters are a constant source of wonder and inspiration to me. The complex circumstances of a life are tied to rhythms, patterns, physical reality, dreams and aspirations. We all exist on many levels simultaneously.
I prefer to evoke ideas that are metaphors and poetic, rather than to describe something.
I think of music, a voice, or a sound that creates an elemental understanding and emotional engagement with our world. I think of fleeting moments and glimpses of life that catch our attention. I think of shapes that may be the basis of many objects we know.
Line is important in my work and I envision it as a generative and time-based element. I attempt to weave a surface of elements together to create energy, tempo and spatial relationships.
I wish to compose elements that emerge and change as one looks at them over time.
I would like viewers to make associations that involve their own stories through the experience of looking at my painting.
